A room isthree coats awayfrom being itself.
A small painting practice on Freeman Street, Orange NJ. Considered color. Careful prep. Clean lines. We treat your walls the way a frame treats a painting.
Six rooms, six colors,
six different stories.
A small portfolio of recent work. Each room a single color decision that earned the rest of the room around it.
Three palettes
for three kinds of rooms.
A starting point. Each palette built around a story. We'll tune the exact shades to your home, your light, and the way you use each room.
For rooms that hold a single armchair, a tall lamp, and a wall of books.
For foyers, dining rooms, and houses with kids running in from school.
Studies, primary bedrooms, the bar in the basement.
Six steps.
From visit to clean.
Prep is the work. The painting is what people see.
- I.stepVisit
We walk the room. We listen to how you live in it. We notice the light.
- II.stepColor
Samples on the wall, never just on a chip. Looked at morning, afternoon, evening.
- III.stepPrep
The longest step. Filling, sanding, taping, papering, masking floors and trim.
- IV.stepFirst coat
Brushwork first on edges and trim. Roller technique tuned to the finish you chose.
- V.stepSecond + third
Most jobs need three coats. Drying time respected between each one.
- VI.stepClean
Tape off, dust down, furniture back. You walk in and the room is yours again.
